We apply a separate pre-wash foam, let it dwell, and rinse it off before the contact wash. This gives the cleaner time to loosen dirt. Rinsing that dirt away first leaves less grit for a wash mitt to move across the paint, reducing the risk of wash-induced scratches and swirl marks. The rinse removes loosened dirt. Regular cleaning removes those deposits so the wheel finish can show through again, and keeps heavy buildup from becoming the starting point for the next wash.
