Solana Beach at a glance
Solana Beach is its own small city between Encinitas and Del Mar. The USGS point for the city sits at about 40 feet, and NOAA has no climate normals station with full records in or right beside it, so there are no temperatures on this page. The General Plan names four primary corridors, I-5, Highway 101, Lomas Santa Fe Drive, and Via de la Valle, with Stevens Avenue as a commercial collector. Lomas Santa Fe is the only city road that crosses I-5. The Local Coastal Program describes eroding coastal bluffs more than 75 feet high and names Fletcher Cove as the city's beach access point for vehicles. What coastal Solana Beach leaves behind
Bluff-top salt air
The city's coastal bluffs stand more than 75 feet high in places, and homes along them face the ocean wind directly. Salt and moisture settle on the paint and glass overnight, then dry into a thin film in the morning. Over a few weeks it dulls the finish and makes the windshield glare. A hand wash with spot-free water clears it. A ceramic sealant from Executive Exterior helps keep the next layer from bonding as tightly to the paint, so later washes go quicker.
Fletcher Cove beach days
Fletcher Cove is the beach access you can reach by car, so plenty of beach gear starts and ends there. Sand gets into everything: under mats, in seat rails, inside door pockets, and into the folds of the cargo liner. A single vacuum pass leaves a lot behind, because sand sinks into the carpet backing. We vacuum, brush, and vacuum again. Shake out the mats and remove chairs, coolers, and boards before the visit, so nothing is in the way.
I-5 commutes and fire season
I-5 runs through the city, and Lomas Santa Fe Drive is the only city road that crosses it, so most commutes start on one or both. The front of the car collects bugs, tar, and road film. CAL FIRE also maps High and Very High fire hazard zones nearby, and in a bad season fine ash can settle on paint. Don't wipe it off dry; leave it for a wash that starts with a gentle pre-rinse, because dry ash can scratch.

We come to La Colonia de Eden Gardens, Lomas Santa Fe, Solana Highlands, Isla Verde, St. Francis Court, Spindrift Del Mar, and the coastal streets around Fletcher Cove. Beach parking isn't a detailing spot, so plan on your own driveway or garage. Condo and townhome visitor spaces can be too narrow for open doors; photograph yours with the neighbors' cars showing. Where Santa Fe Irrigation District serves, tap water tested at 235 ppm hardness in 2025, which is why we rinse with deionized water we bring. Streets are swept on Tuesdays, one city section per week, so if the car waits at the curb, don't book it on your section's Tuesday. August highs average 75.8°F at the Palomar Airport station, mild enough for a midday visit. A parked car has to move more than two-tenths of a mile within 72 hours here, so one that's been sitting out front for days should come into the driveway for its detail. Solana Beach doesn't allow a vehicle to be repaired, serviced or washed while parked on a street or other public property, so we work in your driveway or garage, not the street.

What Solana Beach owners book
A beach town means a sandy cabin, and that's where most visits start. Express Interior for a sedan or coupe is $174.99, with every surface vacuumed, seat rails and seams brushed, and the dash, console, and door trim cleaned and protected. When the back seat has juice stains from school runs, or the cargo floor stayed damp under a wet towel, Executive Interior at $284.99 adds hot-water extraction and steam. Light pet hair is covered by Executive, and a heavy coat is an extra $55.
Outside, the coast leaves a fine salt film that dulls paint and glass, and I-5 adds bugs and road grime on the front. An exterior detail takes care of both. Express Exterior is $104.99: hand wash, wheels done separately, and a spray protectant. Executive Exterior, $224.99, decontaminates with clay and iron removal and finishes with a ceramic sealant so salt and grime don't bond as easily.
Families often book a full detail. Express Inside & Out begins at $234.99, and Executive Inside & Out at $444.99, for a sedan or coupe. SUVs and minivans cost more, and the price is confirmed before work starts. Two family cars can be booked in the same visit if the driveway fits both with doors open.
Other options include headlight restoration at $99.99 a pair, a ceramic glass coating at $159.99 for a hazy windshield, and boat detailing by the foot. If you raise ceramic coating or paint correction, Julian will check the paint first and tell you honestly whether it's needed. Window tint starts at $199 on the tint page. Setting up at a Solana Beach home
Most visits happen in a driveway or a garage. We need a firm, level surface with clearance to swing every door wide, and permission when the property isn't yours. The Fletcher Cove lot and other beach parking aren't detailing spots, so plan on your own driveway or garage. The van carries purified water and its own generator. Solana Beach questions
Can you detail my car at Fletcher Cove?
No. The cove's parking is for beach visitors, and it isn't an approved place to set up equipment and keep a car in one space for a few hours. Book at your home, your garage, or a workplace that allows it, and we'll come there. If you've just been at the beach, that's a good time to send photos of the cabin.
Do you work in condo complexes with assigned parking?
Yes, when the association allows mobile service and the space has room to open every door. Assigned spaces between other cars are often too tight. Check your HOA's rules first, then send them with a photo of the space. If it won't work, a guest space with permission or a nearby garage may. Julian confirms before booking.
How do you get sand out of seat rails?
By hand. Sand settles in the tracks under the seats where a vacuum nozzle can't reach easily, so we brush it out and vacuum it up, then do the same in the seams and door pockets. Express Interior covers a normal beach week. If wet sand dried hard or the carpet stayed damp, Executive Interior adds extraction and steam.
Can you clean juice and snack stains from a family car?
Usually. Fresh spills and sticky spots respond well to Executive Interior's hot-water extraction and steam, from $284.99 for a sedan or coupe. Very old stains may lighten rather than disappear, and we'll tell you from close photos. Take car seats out before the visit if you can, so we can clean the seat beneath them.
Will salt film come off bluff-top cars?
Yes. A hand wash with pH-balanced soap and a spot-free rinse removes the salt film without leaving water spots. We clean the glass inside and out, too. If the film comes back quickly, Executive Exterior adds a ceramic sealant that helps the salt rinse away, and a ceramic glass coating keeps the windshield clearer.
What does a full detail cost in Solana Beach?

Can you detail my car near the Cedros Design District?
Only at a spot where the property owner or manager has said yes. A shop or office lot is private property, and an open space isn't permission to set up. If you work near Cedros, ask your building manager first and send their answer with the request. Otherwise, a home driveway is the simpler choice.
Do you clean bugs and tar after I-5 commutes?
Yes. Bugs and tar on the bumper, mirrors, and lower panels come off with the right products during an exterior detail, softened first rather than scrubbed. Leaving them for weeks can mark the clear coat, so sooner is better. A straight-on photo of the front of the car lets Julian plan the time.
