What life by the lake does to the car
Dust, shore, and trail
The Del Dios Highlands trail runs toward Elfin Forest, and Lake Hodges is right there. Hikes and lake days bring two kinds of mess back to the car: dry trail dust that sifts into seams, and damp gear that sits on the carpet. Let wet things dry outside before the visit. Then show us the cargo floor and the footwells. Dust is a vacuum job. A carpet that stayed damp for days needs extraction and time to dry, so it changes which package fits and how long the visit runs.
Small lots and tight driveways
The San Dieguito plan describes Del Dios lots as generally about 5,000 square feet. On a lot that size, the work spot decides the visit. We need every door to open fully and room for the van nearby. Before you book, stand where the car will sit and check that you can open the driver's door all the way without hitting a wall or a fence. If you can't, tell us about another spot on the property, or a neighbor's driveway you have permission to use.
Sun on the paint
NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals for the Rancho Bernardo station show an August average high of 82.8°F and a January average low of 45.9°F. Summers are warm without being extreme, and winter mornings can leave dew on the glass. Even so, a car parked uncovered year after year shows it on the headlights, the dash, and any black trim. Del Dios is one small community, and we also take homes along the Lake Hodges shoreline, Rancho Cielo, and Elfin Forest, which the Del Dios Highlands Preserve trail links to. The car has to sit on your property, off Del Dios Highway. Lots here are small, so send two photos: one from the street and one from where the car will be parked. Del Dios Mutual Water Co.'s wells came in around 28 grains per gallon in its 2024 report, the hardest water on our service list, so tap water never touches the paint here; we bring deionized water. Small lots make street parking tempting, but County rules require moving a car at least half a mile after 72 hours, so keep it on your lot for the visit. County code bars parking on a road mainly to have a car washed, so even on a small lot we work off the street, on your property.

Services for a lakeside car
Most Del Dios requests start with the interior or with paint that has spent a lot of time outside. Here's how we sort them.
Interior detailing handles what the lake and the trail leave behind. Express Interior at $174.99 is a full vacuum, seam and rail work, and trim cleaned and treated. If wet shoes, a damp towel, or a muddy dog has soaked into the carpet, Executive Interior at $284.99 adds extraction and full steam. Executive packages include light pet hair. Heavy pet hair on an Executive detail is $55. Sand from a lake day gets the same treatment as dust: vacuum first, then the seams and rails by hand, so it doesn't keep turning up.
People here search for ceramic coating a lot, and we'll talk about it if you ask. We won't push it. What a car parked outside often needs first is a proper exterior detail: hand wash, wheels as their own step, and either a spray wax (Express Exterior, $104.99) or clay, iron removal, and a ceramic sealant (Executive Exterior, $224.99). If you want something longer-lasting after that, the ceramic coating page explains the options, and Julian will give you a straight answer on whether your paint needs correction first.
Headlight restoration suits a car that's been parked in the sun for years. It starts at $99.99 a pair. A close photo of each lens tells us whether restoration will help or whether a cracked housing needs a part.
Window tint is also on the menu, starting at $199, on the window tint page. Ask if you want it, and otherwise we won't bring it up.
A boat that goes out on Lake Hodges can be cleaned too, priced by the foot through boat detailing, and it can share a request with the car.

Del Dios Highway is the way in, and we can't work on it. The vehicle has to be on your property, off the highway, on firm ground with room around it. We set up a water containment system so runoff doesn't reach storm drains, then recover the waste water with high-GSM towels and a wet vac. We bring spot-free deionized water and run our own generator, so you don't need to run a hose or an extension cord, though if you have them, mention it, because they can help.

Del Dios questions
Can you park on Del Dios Highway to do the work?
No. The highway isn't a safe or legal place to open every door, run a hose, and leave equipment around a car for hours. We need an off-road spot on the property, such as a driveway, a garage pad, or a flat area next to the house, with room on every side. Send a photo of it with your request. If there really isn't a usable spot, tell us, and we can talk about a workplace or another approved location where the car can stay for the whole appointment.
Is my Del Dios address in Escondido or the County?
Del Dios is unincorporated San Diego County, part of the County's San Dieguito plan area. Nearby addresses, including the Del Dios Highlands Preserve, still use Escondido 92029 as the mailing city, which is why the question comes up. For booking, use your street address exactly as it appears on your mail and choose Del Dios as the area. Julian checks the address on the map before confirming, so you don't need to sort out the jurisdiction yourself.
Do you serve Rancho Cielo and Mt. Israel too?
Yes. Both are separate communities near Del Dios, and we take requests in each, along with Elfin Forest. The setup questions are the same: where the car will sit, whether there's a gate, and whether the property has association rules about mobile service. Send the street address and a photo of the spot, plus any gate or HOA details, and we confirm the visit and the package before booking. Book the same way you would for Del Dios.
Can you clean trail dust after a Del Dios Highlands hike?
Yes. Dry dust from the trail settles into seat seams, door pockets, and the carpet edges, and a thorough vacuum with seam and rail work in Express Interior, from $174.99, usually takes care of it. If shoes came back wet and the mud has soaked in, or the dog rode home on the back seat, Executive Interior adds extraction and full steam. Take photos of the mats, footwells, and cargo floor with the gear removed, and we'll tell you which one fits.
Can you work on a sloped or tight driveway?
We need firm, level ground with room to open every door all the way, and on Del Dios lots the driveway is sometimes the hard part. Send a photo from the street and another from where the car sits. If the driveway is steep, we may suggest a different spot on the property, such as a flat pad by the garage. A spot where the doors hit a wall or a fence won't work for an interior detail, so check that before the day.
Do you restore headlights at home?
Yes. Headlight restoration starts at $99.99 a pair for a sedan or coupe, and we do it in your driveway like everything else. It works when the haze and yellowing are on the surface of the lens. Cracked lenses, deep chips, or moisture inside the housing can't be fixed by restoration and need replacement parts instead. Send a close daylight photo of each lens, and Julian will tell you which you have before you book anything.
What does a full detail cost in Del Dios?
For a sedan or coupe, Express Inside & Out starts at $234.99 and Executive Inside & Out starts at $444.99. Express fits a car that's lived in but cared for. Executive adds extraction and steam inside and clay, iron removal, and a ceramic sealant outside. SUVs, trucks, and vans cost more. The price is confirmed from photos or in person before work starts. Can you clean a boat I take out on Lake Hodges?
Yes. Boat detailing starts at $16.50 a foot, and it can go in the same request as the car, so one visit covers both. Tell us the boat's length, whether it's on a trailer, and where it's parked, and send a few photos of the hull and the deck. The same rule applies as for the car: it needs to be on your property or another approved spot with room around it, not on the street or at a launch ramp.
Do you need my water or power?
No. We bring spot-free deionized water and run our own generator, which matters on a small lot where the hose bib might be on the wrong side of the house. If you do have a hose or outlet close to the car, mention it when you book, since it can help. What we can't bring is space, so the main thing we need from you is a level spot with room around the car and permission to work there.
